i am writing a lot now - like everyday. and it feels really really good. I can let out things as they occur to me rather than bottling it all up. Sometimes i start to feel selfish when i focus on myself this way - but i'm beginning to learn how important it is for me. I suppose i've always been a very introverted person. Not to say i think only about myself, instead that i highly believe in the exploration of the self. We have all been given great talents, everyone one of us. But they are hidden, and it is up to us to take the time to uncover and nuture them into something great.
I believe that we already have everything we need, hidden within us, some things deeper than others. BUT if we never take the time to look for them, then these great things get passed by. As cheesy as it sounds, and regardless of what religion you follow - it is seriously important to take time to get to know your soul. Connect with that awesome and wonderful life source that makes us who we are - it is the very essence of our personalities, it bears the beginnings of our creativeness, and it inspires us to put those beautiful feelings we experience on paper.
Whether it be through drawing, or painting or writing or photography, or any other means of expression. What we put out into reality is a reflection of who we really are. And really, if we haven't spend the time to understand who are we are, our expressions are going to be all over the place, way too busy, and going in too many directions.
I am currently trying to find out which direction i want to go in - because right now i am being inspired by so many awesome things, i don't know where to begin. It probably doesnt help that i am also trying to go in a direction where i can possibly, eventually, be able to make a living off whatever i've chosen. it is my dream to someday be able to make a living doing something i absolutely love, but then again, who doesn't have that dream.
Then what happens though, is that i get overwhelmed and frustrated and i end up doing nothing at all. I am just now figuring out that i probably should only focus on learning only one thing at a time - however - every artist i am inspired by (through flickr and blogs, etc) seem to be doing more than one thing and rocking out on everything they do. *insert mini "i want that" tantrum here* aaaaaannnndddd a lot of them have sweet deals as being members of design teams. i would love love love to be a part of that, and would love to learn how one gets into this/hears about DT calls, etc.
(but i won't even get into some of the insecurities that come along with that idea - we'll save that one for a nother reflection post!).
So instead - here is a little something i made yesterday. It is a sign that i made to remind people when i am on my break at work (they sometimes forget). Now, if i get interrupted i can kindly point to this cute little sign. The best thing is... i actually made it on my lunch break.

In closing:
Life is a journey, and we always have a choice.
We can stay within our comfort zone or we can push the boundaries.
Pushing will most certainly be uncomfortable at times - but just think of the roads it could lead you down.
