Now, onto the best of 2009 challenge

Q. Number 8 Moment of peace. An hour or a day or a week of solitude. What was the quality of your breath? The state of your mind? How did you get there?

Moments of peace in 2009 were oddly few and far between. It's not that i had any one hugely stressful thing going on (i.e. i didn't have a child, or have to deal with a personal tragedy), i just had a really difficult time connecting with my core self this year. Don't get me wrong, i certainly wasn't lazy about it. Spending time with yourself has always been an issue of importance for me, and this year i did the actions, and went through the motions, but still felt distant from my own heart. Sound familiar? Somebody please mention that i am not the only one who sometimes feels this way?

That being said, i am incredibly excited for the new year to begin. Yoga is again starting to become a huge influence in my life, and the quality of my breath is increasing. The good thing about having a not-so-great year with sometime (in this case, finding moments of peace), is that it almost always increases your chances of having a better year next year.

I probably got to this point as a result of letting stress get to me. I had a lot of personal stress, mixed with performance stress that i placed on myself, mixed with a lot of feels in inadequacy. Which usually is not a successful recipe for success in finding peace.

That being said, the best moments of peace i had this year involved falling snow, toques, gloves and scarfs, and some good walking boots. And that, my friends, is one of the most peaceful experiences ever (in my opinion anyways).

one love
