Best of 2009 Blog Challenge

eeeeek it's nearing the end of the year! You know what that means - when people get all nostalgic about the year that has passed, and we try so hard to sum up all we've experienced, learned, taught and listened to. And sometimes - if you've had a big year it can be more stressful than relaxing - it turns into some kind of race to try and remember everything and sum it up before it is lost in your brain somewheres forever only to come out during a hypnosis session or something! BUT! i have discovered a best of 2009 blog challenge.

go. read. think. and then do it. it's good for the soul.

Part 1
Best Trip of 2009
This year, Jess decided that we deserved a vacation to sunnier weather, so we packed up the car and headed to San Diego for sun, sand and surf. Well. watching the surf that is. We packed our week off so full with everything wonderful, that by the time we got back, we needed a vacation just to recooperate.

We visited le Disney:

And we visited le San Diego Zoo:

We also ate at Joe's Crab Shack (which i love love love and would probably drive all the way to California again just to eat at Joe's).

Also. we visited 6 flags. except i don't have all of those pictures with me right now to share. but. it was by far one of the best parts of the whole trip. Neither of us had ever been to an actual ride theme park and it was incredible! We went on as many rides as we could fit into the day, before it started to get cold (yes, apparently it does sometimes get cold near the mexico border!)

The whole trip was just what i needed to escape for a little while from the everyday stress that was getting me down and hardening my heart. It was such an adventure (from me learning to drive standard, to driving over neat-o bridges at night time, to getting rear ended, to sleeping in a hostel) and my smoochy poo and i created so many memories that i'm sure we will hold dear forever. In fact, i took so many pictures from this trip alone that i've made an entire scrapbook documenting our trip.

I would do it again in a heart beat - except we both agreed that more time would be needed on the next roadtrip we take. Considering that we practically made it from Chilliwack to LA in less than 24 hours [straight driving is not the way to go! Which explains the lack of pictures taken while driving/in the car/crossing state lines, etc!].

I am so lucky that i have someone who likes to travel and go on adventures as much as i do - except it's been a little tricky trying to convince a man that doesn't gamble to visit le Vegas with me. Soon enough... soon enough :)
