Favorite Viva Shots

My SO [significant other] and I had the wonderful opportunity to jet-set away for a few days in Viva Las Vegas.

We had a wonderful time enjoying the much warmer climate, and the big bright lights of the city.

[while we were there, Jess had a bit of a run-in with Mr. Rocky]

Hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine's Day weekend! This weekend we are majorly de-cluttering and re-organizing our living space [in the hopes of finding a new location for my messy messy arts & craft desk!]

San Diego Beach | Best Place 2009

Q.December 11 The best place. A coffee shop? A pub? A retreat center? A cubicle? A nook?

A.A Beach. In 2008 i visited San Diego for the first time, and it was sincerely love at first sight. There was something so delightful and soothing about the waves, the salty air, the white sand beneath your feet, and the fact that it was t-shirt weather in the middle of October; it calmed my soul like nothing before.

After seeing the beach from afar (coming in the on the plane), i used the best resources i had (public transportation) to get me to the beach where "the locals go." 2 trolleys and a bus later, i arrived, and it was worth the $3.25 and 55 minutes it took get me there. Although there was plenty to do other than sit on the beach (restaurants, ferris wheels, carnival games, shopping, surfing), i was cont
ent to just sit. I purchased a beach mat for $1 and was off to find a spot. It wasn't very hard, the beach was practically empty. I suppose those Californians think that October weather is too cold for their liking.

Anyways, as that was 2008, let's fast forward to 2009. As i mentioned here, Jess and I did the drive from our home to San Diego earlier this year. and, this is mostly due to the amount of talking i did about how much i love that city. and the beaches that are located there.

It was mainly my love for the ocean, and how it presents itself at this particular location that determined our vacation destination of 2009. Nothing can describe how i feel sitting there - looking out - and feeling so much at home even though home is so far away. There is something so very comforting about knowing that the ocean will always go out and come in over those sandy beaches, even when you don't know anything else. Unfortunately, it was extremely windy the day we visited the beach this year, which made for not so great photos and sand in the eye, but my love still remains.

and i'm sure i'll make my way back there again next year. my soul deserves it.
