(our last hike to Lindeman... he went swimming in mud)
It's been over a week! Where did it go! I think the heat is just throwing everything off kilter... everything seems melted together. Schedules? What schedules? I nap, i play video games, i eat snacks at odd hours. i sleep in the living room at night. need i say more? haha.
Seriously though, i've been keeping busy with regular people things, working, cooking, sleeping, etc! Just trying to putt on through during these 35 degree + temperature days. Makes me feel like i'm in mexico again, but in this mexico i still have to work. Unfortunately though, our office is not properly equipped with a functioning a/c system, so temperatures inside are also 35 degrees +. Me and my administrative assistant (aka my younger sister) take turns sticking our faces into what air conditioning we do have. AND! we recieved a cooling surprise the other day from my boyfriend, who so graciously brough us delish bubble teas from the big orange. Dr. Laura (my new idol) says surprises are the key to a woman's heart. hmmmm i wonder if Jess secretly listens to her when he's home alone?!
For those of you who haven't heard of Dr. Laura - you can check her out here. This is the best thing i have ever discovered.... you can listen to her show practically any time of the day, and day of the week, by clicking on the "other stations and times" link, and streamline it right from your computer. She teaches preaches and nags about morals, values and ethics, and if you call in, she WILL put you in your place. It's kind of like free counselling, for the callers and the listeners. Which is why i love it. I really do love all things free. haha. Anyways, she has a new 3 hour show every weekday, and they consist of callers phoning in with questions they have for her, about almost any kind of probably you could imagine. Some you learn from, and you can definately take into your own relationship, and your own life. Some make you feel so very grateful for what you have. Some make you chuckle as to how they ever got themselves into that mess. And some just remind you of what is important in life. Overall, it always makes my time in the office go by a little quicker - i feel like i am learning more about life as the day goes on.
This past weekend was pretty good, although my card class at Precious Memories was cancelled due to not enough people. I was really looking forward to it all week, but hey, it is the summer and the majority of people are out doing summery things. So instead, i stayed at home, inside my 18 degree apartment and scrapbooked all day while jess and a friend watched movies (we made good use of the small space). I did a few layouts with Grandma's Kitchen paper and worked on my happy days album a little. I'm waiting for the Paper Passion to carry the Cosmo Cricket Snorkle line so i can order a bunch more. I have a feeling this summer's album is going to be thick thick thick.
A new challenge site announcement, which i learned about from Hayley's blog... is kind of exciting! Head over to Get Sketchy to check out what they will be bringing to the table every week. They are heading up a DT call, as well as giving away some great Cosmo Cricket blog candy to kick off their grand opening. You bet i'll be all over that!
In other scrapbook news, i am really digging a newer kit company called Freehand Scraps but i haven't brought myself to order one yet because its (groan with me now) american. Not that i dislike americans, i just don't like their currency, or their additional shipping charges. I've been burning through my recreation money (aka my spare money that goes 80% to scrapbooking 20% to other necessities like clothes or shoes)... so i am trying to slow it down a little! It's about time i use up that stash that i have that somehow continues to grow...
On a more exciting note (for me anyways) me and Rolo (our now 5 month old Bichon) will be embarking ont he adventure known as obedience school! New classes start in september and we are just trying to decide which trainer to take him to. It's a shame the only really good dog trainer i know, lives alllll the way on the island (*ahem* tasia).
Speaking of Tasia (a good friend for whom i've known for many a years) is celebrating a birthday this long weekend. Myself and Jess are hosting and i am so excited to serve those wonderful little chocolate covered cheesecakes that you can now buy at stupid store (some people also call it the superstore...) anyways there will be snackies and some homemade party favors... and a hidden slice machine (not for a gift or anything, just for safe keeping!). I would prefer to avoid a repeat of what happened the last time we had a gathering.
My sister and her boyfriend are also moving into their first place this weekend, and i am so excited for them! it will be an adventure that i am sure they will both enjoy. Moving out on your own is such rush of freedom! i want to make them something for their home, but i am having a bit of trouble deciding which route i should go down. Too bad their names weren't easier to smush together to make a cool sign (like me and my previous roommate... we named our house the Shally Pad (Shannon and Allison.. aren't we brilliant?!)).

sounds like you've got lots going on even when it's hot out. I'm glad for the cool weather now, but I would have been thrilled with 18 degrees in my place during that heat wave!! Very lucky indeed!
