Overhaulin'

Inspiration has been coming at me from all angles these days. We are currently majorly spring cleaning our apartment, and are going head-strong into decluttering all closets and nooks and crannies.

And it feels good! We cleaned our closets, through out a lot of stuff, and donated a lot of old clothes to Bibles for Missions. So, if you are reading this, and live local to me, check out the Bibles For Missions store because they have half my wardrobe, and most of it is in pretty darn good condition!

So anyways, with all this spring cleaning, I've been feeling an urge to actually decorate my home with things that truly inspire and reflect who Mr. Extraordinary and I are, as people. For so long we've simply decorated with what we have, but I've been craving really making this space our own. I would use the word nesting, but apparently that has "stork" connotations; and I can assure you that will just be the two of us for quite a while.

A few years ago, when I was living with just a roommate, I remember my bedroom being all my own. It was my favorite place to be in the whole world. It was the only place where I felt completely comfortable... and it's been a while since I've really felt like that. So it's really exciting to be able to start over with the whole decorating thing. But my oh my it's a lot of work!

I've been collecting a ton of ideas from fellow blog mates, flickr streams, apartment therapy [my newest obsession] and the millions of neat-o things that i've found on etsy.com. I'm trying to streamline all the things i get excited over - see if I can find some sort of pattern with the things I do like (or else I will end up with one eclectic and mismatched designed home).

I may end up with wayyyy to many ideas by the time i'm finished looking. And I very well may need to hire myself an interior designer.... know anyone who works for free? (or willing to work in exchange for large amounts of cakes and/or scrapbooking or party planning?)

(it's worth a try, right?!)
